Normally, when you receive your update CD-ROM, it is not necessary to run setup again. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Start the PPC Reference Library. It will detect a new version of the CD-ROM and prompt you to click OK to automatically install the program update.
Mount the new CD-ROM into your networked CD-ROM drive. From your workstation, browse to the CD-ROM and run Setup.exe. Click on the Network Install/Update icon. As the program progresses, it will show you the UNC, or mapped path, to the shared folder on your server where the Config folder is located. (If it doesn't show the Config folder, click the Browse button and browse to the shared folder.) When your users start their PPC Reference Library on their workstations, it will prompt them that there is a new CD-ROM and ask them to click OK to update automatically.
If your master password is not on file, it means the program couldn't find your master password in the security file on the CD-ROM. If the first character of your master password starts with a "1" or a "0", you will need to change it to an "I" (eye) or "O" (oh). As you receive additional CD-ROM updates, your master password should display as on file. At that point, you shouldn't need any product access codes.
Product access codes allow you to enter a code for any new software Guides that you purchase. This way you get instant access to a new Guide when you order it. The product access code for a Guide that is updating is also on your invoice when it is sent to you. Product access codes change with each update of the CD-ROM.
